How it works

MentPay is a digital payment platform that allows you to top up your smart card and pay for travel on public transport.

When you have a top-up 'to collect' the smartcard needs to be used in the following way to collect the balance:

• Ask the driver for the ticket you would like
• Wait for the driver to enter the ticket into their ticket machine
• Put your card on the reader until the ticket machine indicates the transaction has completed. This will 'collect' any outstanding top-ups and deduct the value of the ticket being purchased.

Please note, if the driver puts the card on the reader before they have selected the ticket you wish to purchase or they check the balance on the card, this will not collect the outstanding top-up.

The Mentpay card needs to be used in this way for every transaction.
